MI School Data Homepage Redesign
MI School Data (MISD) is the State of Michigan's official public portal for reporting education data. I worked on redesigning the homepage as the entire site was migrated from a fixed-width layout to a responsive layout over the course of 2018.
Before this redesign, the homepage had not been updated for several years, and featured a confusing navigation structure as well as a cramped and overall outdated look.
An archived version of this page can be found at this link.
While updating the home page for a responsive layout, I incorporated strict client requirements as well as principles of flat design into my work.
The portal has since been moved to a completely different platform, but the site layout I designed can still be found at the legacy page or archived at this link.
Other contributions to the MISD project
One example of a report I contributed data visualization design work to.
In addition to leading the effort to redesign the homepage, I also contributed significant other amounts of design work to MI School Data. This work includes, but is not limited to: designing the site-wide responsive navigation update completed as the site was migrated to a responsive layout, designing graphs and charts for ongoing report updates, designing new graphs and charts for new reports, and designing interfaces for an updated sitewide search function, all while working closely with both the developers and the client on all these tasks.
